Rice salad – en.Kung-Food

Typical summery recipe, rice salad is a very tasty dish, fresh and easy to make, with ingredients such as tuna, eggs, wiener sausage, mixed vegetables, cheese, ham, olives and of course, rice. The choice of the proper kind of rice is perhaps the most important step: it has to be selected white grainy rice, like basmati, that does not overcook and is therefore great for preparing this type of salad. As for the ingredients in the rice salad, they may change depending on the personal tastes of each one of us, there is no fixed rule: you can use Emmentaler or Gruyere cheese or even others. Another point in favor of rice salad is that it can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days, without its flavor being affected.

1 pound Basmati rice 4 wiener sausages, diced 2 tuna cans 20 olives, halved 1/2 cup peppers, chopped 1/2 cup Gruyere cheese, diced 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, diced 1/4 cup pickled cucumbers, cut 1/2 cup mushrooms, chopped

Start preparing the rice salad by washing and cutting the tomatoes in halves, then remove the seeds and dice the tomatoes. Wash the peppers, and dice them after removing the seeds. Slice the sausage, dice the cheese and then cut the olives. Finely chop the chives and finish by cutting the pickled cucumbers. Put everything in a bowl.

The dressing for the rice salad is ready, so you can now cook the rice. Put a pot with salted water on the heat and when the water boils, cook the rice for about 15 minutes. Once ready, drain the rice and add it to the sauce, adding the drained tuna as well. Add the chopped chives as well and mix well, to combine all the ingredients. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest for a couple of hours so that the rice salad becomes even more flavorful.
