Uncle Bill's fried potatoes and onions – en.Kung-Food

Uncle Bill’s fried potatoes and onions is a vegetarian and gluten free recipe with four servings. This recipe covers 3% of your daily requirements of vitamins and minerals. We would call that a not so healthy side dish but oh well, it’s delicious so it’s fine by me. One Uncle Bill’s fried potatoes and onions serving contains 274 calories, 5g of protein, and 19g of fat. This nice side dish can be considered inexpensive, costing around 61 cents per serving, another good enought reason to prepare it. Head to the store and pick up garlic cloves, yukon gold potatoes, dried dill weed, and a few other things to make it today. From preparation to the plate, this recipe takes approximately 30 minutes. I first saw it on Food.com. Uncle Bill’s Deep Fried Zucchini Strips, Uncle Bill’s Broccoli Soup, and Uncle Bill’s Turkey Dressing are very similar to this recipe. I’m sure one day I’ll write these recipes down as well.

INGREDIENTSuncle-bills-fried-potatoes-and-onions-300x300-4522798 4 large russet potatoes 1 large onion, sliced thin 4 tablespoons butter (or more if required) 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 2 or 3 large garlic cloves, minced 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed 1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Peel and slice potatoes about 1/8 inch thick or thinner. Slice onion thinly. In a large frying pan on medium-high heat, melt butter, add olive oil. Add sliced potatoes and onions, cover and fry for 10 minutes. Using a spatula, turn the potatoes and onions over so they do not break apart. If potatoes appear too dry, add some additional butter.

Sprinkle with minced garlic, dried dill weed, salt and pepper and continue to fry with cover removed for another 5 minutes or until potatoes begin to turn slightly brown; turning occasionally. Serve Uncle Bill’s fried potatoes and onions hot with your meal.
